LAYOUT OF THE LINEN ROOM:
The linen room should be spacious enough for the
smooth, movement of the trolley and stacking it. The layout of the linen
room should be so that it is easy in the day-to-day operation. The shelves
and the racks should be from wall to wall and suitable distanced for the
movement of the trolley for the attendant during stacking and withdrawing of
linen. While stacking of the linen in the linen room it should be ensured
that all the heavy items are close to the door or the exchange window and
are stacked in their respective shelves only. The light items should be
stacked in the rear end of the linen room as picking it up from their to the
exchange place is not tough as that in case of the heavy items. The less
circulating items like the blankets and mattress protector should be in the
last as they are not withdrawn daily while items like bed and room linen
should be in front as they circulate more frequently. The floor of the linen
room should be so that it can be easily cleaned and should not have pores to
accommodate dust or any other growth in it. The linen room should have
proper provision for the lock after the end of shift as it stores one of the
major parts of the capital investment and loss of it is a heavy loss.
