ACTIVITIES OF LINEN ROOM:
Linen Room as the word indicates is the place or
the store of the hotel where the linen, which is in circulation, is kept.
The place is generally very close to the laundry and the housekeeping
office, as it is the section of the housekeeping that works in liaison with
the laundry and the housekeeping.
1. Linen room stores all the various types of
linen of the hotel, which is in circulation.
2. All the linen exchange take place with this
place only in the hotel.
3. Dirty linen is handed over to the laundry in
the presence of the linen room attendant to the laundry directly for the
wash but the records are maintained by this place.
4. All the clean linen against the dirty received
from the floor or the restaurant is issued from the linen room.
5. The inventory of the linen is carried out in
this place along with other places of linen storage or use under the control
of the linen room attendant.
6. Linen room discards the linen in circulation
after inspecting the linen.
7. Depending upon the linen inventory the
purchase order is requested from Linen Room. Thus linen room determines the
purchase requirement of the linen.
8. Linen room controls all the linen by regular
inventory and maintaining the records.
9. Linen room gets all the dirty linen laundered
for the use at a later stage.
10. Linen Room coordinates with the Laundry for
the wash requirement of the linen, tailor for the mending requirement of the
linen, and housekeeping attendants for the linen exchange. Apart from the
sections of housekeeping linen room also coordinate with F&B Service
sections for its various table linen requirement.
11. Linen Room is directly under the control of
the Executive Housekeeper.
